MindanaoHerald | ‘A Million Learners Campaign’ by DepEd helps 13 schools in Cabadbaran | BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Office of Vice President Sara Duterte’s “PAGBABAGO: A Million Learners Campaign” has reached out to 13 elementary schools in faraway barangays in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.

Along with the Army’s 29th Infantry Battalion (29IB), more than 615 elementary school students from the recipient elementary schools got bags and other school supplies during the one-day giveaway on Wednesday.

“The support is what the 29IB gives to the education sector and to the good work of Vice President Sara Duterte, who is also Secretary of DepEd,” 29IB civil-military operations officer 1st Lt. Jade Bryce Bune said in an interview on Thursday.

Bune explained that the 29IB wants to work with DepEd and the Office of the Vice President to make sure that kids in faraway villages have the tools they need to do better in school.

Separately, on Thursday, Lt. Col. Cresencio Gargar, who is in charge of 29IB, thanked Duterte for giving the unit the chance to help the DepEd’s campaign.

“Being able to get school supplies and resources will let the kids fully participate in school activities and improve the quality of education in Cabadbaran City’s remote areas,” Gargar said.

He said that the DepEd program showed how the military and civilian leaders can work together to help society improve and the country grow.
