Mindanao Herald | CIAP Board Moves to Address Alleged Anomalies in Flood Control Projects
The Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) Board has launched measures to respond to concerns over possible anomalies in government flood control projects and irregularities linked to the contractor licensing system.
In a meeting held on August 29, 2025, the CIAP Board took up issues raised by both the President and Senator Panfilo Lacson involving certain contractors and potential lapses in PCAB’s regulatory framework.
One of the key decisions made was the initiation of a formal probe into EGB Construction Corporation for its alleged involvement in questionable practices in flood control works. The Board also instructed PCAB to submit updates on its ongoing investigation of contractors flagged by national officials and to conduct a thorough internal audit of its systems and staff.
To strengthen transparency, the CIAP Board approved the engagement of a third-party agency to independently review the integrity of the licensing process for contractors.
Officials emphasized that these steps reflect CIAP’s determination to uphold public trust in the construction industry, ensure stricter oversight, and align with the government’s continuing campaign against corruption.
